Ruth Schocken Katz

Ruth Schocken Katz

I work with separating and divorcing couples who want to reach agreements amicably and outside of court. I provide a safe, supportive space where you can make informed choices about your children’s arrangements and finances—helping you retain control over your lives and assets.

Family mediation is typically more cost-effective, less emotionally stressful, and quicker than going through court proceedings.

As your mediator, I remain impartial throughout the process. The decisions made in mediation are entirely your own. My role is to provide information (not advice) and to create a calm, respectful environment where you can have constructive conversations and make informed decisions together. Unlike court, mediation allows you to stay in control of your family’s future and resolve issues as amicably as possible.

Separation can be deeply challenging for both adults and children. Family mediation places children’s well-being at the centre of the process. Because mediation is faster and less adversarial, its positive impact on children is significant—stress is reduced, agreements are reached sooner, and children experience a smoother transition into new family arrangements.

Each client begins with an individual meeting, called a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM). This allows you to share your perspective, understand how mediation works, and ask any questions. Subsequent sessions are joint meetings with both participants and myself.

In mediation, you will have the opportunity to explore different options for your family. There is never any pressure to make decisions on the spot.

I offer sessions both in person in Camden and online.

With my background in coaching—I am an accredited Senior Coach with the EMCC (European Mentoring and Coaching Council)—I help clients regulate their emotions during one of life’s toughest transitions. My approach supports you in being intentional and effective during what can feel like a chaotic time, leading to constructive, forward-looking conversations about separation, arrangements, and finances.
