My Approach
I aim to build a therapeutic relationship in which you feel able to speak about anything you wish to in your sessions. Together we co-create a comfortable, non-judgemental space where you feel at ease to explore your past, present and future. The therapeutic alliance between client and therapist can be a source of guidance as you navigate life and I place emphasis on building trust and being real with you. My style is warm, thoughtful and approachable. I’ll meet you in your struggle with my own wisdom and experience. We’ll team up, with compassion and there is also plenty of space for joy and laughter to have a place. My integrative perspective to psychotherapy is unique to each client, relational and creative.
It aims to support you to improve the quality of your life – whatever that may personally mean for you. The transpersonal dimension of my work holds a holistic philosophy, honouring mind, body and soul in the search for healing. Working at depth, we can explore not only what’s on the surface but the deeper patterns and experiences that shape your life and relationships. Alongside traditional talking therapy we may use breathwork, meditation,
guided visualisations, drawing and work with dreams.
Areas I Work With
I specialise in bereavement and loss, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, abuse, family dynamics and parenting. I have a passion for supporting people through the various changing stages of life, working at depth to encourage your discovery of your innate wisdom and purpose.
I regularly work with trainee psychotherapists who are looking for a long-term therapist as part of their clinical qualification. In addition, I have specialist training in working with people who have experienced childhood trauma, including emotional, physical, or sexual abuse.
Qualifications
I am a UKCP-accredited Integrative Transpersonal Psychotherapist with a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (CCPE). Originally from the USA, I’ve worked in the field of mental health for over 20 years previously as a social worker, researcher and lecturer. I’m a staff member at the CCPE, workshop facilitator and continue to take part in ongoing training and professional development.
I am fully accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and adhere to their Code of Ethics. My practice is inclusive and welcoming to people of all ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, religious beliefs, physical abilities, sexual orientations and gender identities.
